P-23: Evaluation of Relation between Sperm DNA Fragmentation with IUI Outcomes
Authors
Abstract:
Background: Sperm chromatin integrity assessment has been suggested as fertility predictor. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the results of sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA) and the outcome of intrauterine insemination IUI. Materials and Methods: A total of 576 consecutive couples undergoing IUI were included and IUI was performed. SCSA results were expressed as DNA fragmentation index (DFI) before and after processing. Reproductive outcome parameters were biochemical pregnancy (BP), clinical pregnancy (CP) and delivery (D). Results: The average of DFI before processing was significantly higher than those of DFI after processing (p<0.001). DFI was negatively correlated to sperm concentration, sperm total motility, type A and B motility and sperm morphology before processing and also, between DFI before and after processing. Conclusion: SCSA is a useful method for prediction of the outcome of IUI.

P-47: Comparison of Sperm Acrosin Activity and DNA Fragmentation between Varicocele and Infertile Individuals
Background: Introduction assessment of sperm functional tests along with routine semen analysis may provide further information in the etiology of varicocele in different subpopulations. Therefore, in this study, in addition to assessment of sperm chromatin integrity, we aimed to assess the total acrosin activity which has proven to have major role during in vitro and natural fertilization in v...
full textSperm DNA Fragmentation and Its Relation With Fertility
Sperm DNA integrity is vital for successful fertilization, embryo development, pregnancy, and transmission of genetic material to the offspring. DNA fragmentation is the most frequent DNA anomaly present in the male gamete that has been associated to poor semen quality, low fertilization rates, impaired embryo quality, and preim‐ plantation development and reduced clinical outcomes in assisted ...

objective: the present study aimed to simultaneously evaluate the association between expression of three potential factors [post-acrosomal sheath ww domain-binding protein (pawp), phospholipase cζ (plcζ), and truncated form of the kit receptor (tr-kit)] as candidates of oocyte activation with fertilization rate and early embryonic development. materials and methods: in this experimental study,...
full textP-240: Effect of Oxidative Stress on DNA Fragmentation Index in Sperm of Mature Mice
Background: One of the major factors affecting on male infertility is oxidative stress (OS). Two main sources of ROS production are leukocytes and spermatozoa. The ROS such as tertiary-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) may damage and fragmentate to sperm DNA, which can lead to complications in the offspring. In this study, we will investigate the effect of od on DNA fragmentation index (DFI) in sperm ...

full textP-81: Evaluation of DNA Fragmentation in Patients with Total Globozoospermia
Background: Infertility is estimated to affect up to 15% of couples of reproductive age, and male factors contribute to 50% of these cases. Globozoospermia syndrome is a severe form of teratozoospermia, with an incidence of less than 0.1%. It is characterized by round sperm head. The most prominent feature of globozoospermia is the malformation of the acrosome, which is totally absent in the to...
